# Thoughts about Democracy - The God That Failed My thoughts about Democracy - The God That Failed by Hans-Hermann Hoppe. H. makes the important point that the way to defeat the evils of democracy consists of simply not participating -- rather that gaining power in the current system. This falls much in-line with my idea that liberty and oppression consist of  two entirely separate systemic structures. They cannot be combined. Liberty comprises an entirely different structure. H. also lays out the importance of private property and the progress of civilization. Democracy confiscates private property from one groups and transfers it to another group. Elected rulers have no incentive to protect private property for future use. Their tenure lasts for a limited period of time and during the time they ger reelected based on what they give away - not what they maintain for the future. Aside --- In response to the ridiculous comments by Pres. Obama about how business succeeds only as a result of the infratructure created by government: He totally ignores that the resources used to build those roads come from private property owners. Most obviously government uses the taxes collected from private property owenrs to pay for those infrastructure creations. Less obvious is the fact that when government confiscates (or "buys") resources for infrastructure the cost consists of what private property owners do not do with those resources. # Reference(s)/ Links & Related Docs Posted::[[Reflections on Democracy]] # Publication [Reflections on Democracy](https://clearthinking.substack.com/p/reflections-on-democracy)
