James Dayne is a man whom [[Lucy Dayne, nee Lackman]] met at some point in 1424 DR, married and had a child, James Jr. ([[Jim Dayne]]) with. It has not yet firmly been established what Lucy's motives were for marrying for James, whether it was for love or convenience. What is established is that James and Lucy moved to the area of the [[Sword Coast]] that would become [[Yaho]] and were instrumental in ridding it of its goblin presence, alongside [[Dadi Ironfist]], whose clanhold was nearby. At some point during their marriage, [[Gunther]] delivered the [[Shard of Gratuitous Perplexity]] to the couple for safekeeping - or it's possible that Lucy already had it in her possession when she met James. In any case, its presence in their home had negative effects on the couple, culminating in James becoming infatuated with the skurchur [[Frodjer Wilvias]] and absconding with him into the [[Underdark]]. James joined a cult of [[Graz'zt]] after losing his mind to Frodjer and when his grandson [[Aldrich Dayne]] tracked him down there during the [[Out of the Abyss Campaign]], he fought [[Aldrich Dayne]], refusing to yield, until his tragic death. #Villain/OotA/Homebrew
