# Notability
RedHat was one of the first distros I used and it almost turned me off of Linux forever. It is much better now, but I am always wary of it.
If we assume that Fedora is is just RedHat renamed, then it is one of the classic Linux distros. But it depends on how you draw the line of heritage between RedHat, CentOS, and Fedora. The names and people have been moved around a lot for marketing and general corporate purposes.
It is the official distro supported by many closed-source applications which support Linux:
- DaVinci Resolve
- ...
Home of the [[RPM]] package manager.
## Derivatives
- [[SUSE Linux]]
- while SUSE is in name is technically older than RedHat, it eventually ended up adopting most of RedHat's features and [[RPM]] package manager
