The Xeon Rapture RPG (or XRRPG) is a system designed to combine genres with reckless abandon. You want to make a cyberpunk character with a gun in one hand and a physic's tome in the other? Or an alien with super-strength who's made a pact with a dark god? Or maybe a emotion-manipulating magician followed by drones that hack, do reconnaissance, and heal allies? Anything is possible through the xeon, the magical, spiritual substance that fuels both the magic and the technology of the universe. You can become a devil-hunter, destroying the corporeal manifestations of fear and greed. You can become a bounty hunter, piloting a mech to kill hulking monsters and navigating a spaceship to far-flung spaceports. You can hunt outlaws and engage in high-stakes duels for the right to survive. Check out a more detailed breakdown below! --- Check the [[Quick Start Guide]] for simple rules, [[Core Rules]] if you wanna jump right into the deep end, or read on for a very general overview. # Quick Rundown - Mechanics - 2d10 + stat system - 2d10 = bell curve distribution! Rolls tend toward the center and so are more consistent - 4 different stats: Vigor, Endurance, Intuition, Wit - Stats are more general and most checks can be done with any of a couple stats - Each stat is correlated to a color of xeon, the basic spiritual energy of the universe - Worldbuilding - Combines fantasy and sci-fi genres - Multiple [[Core Rules#Species|mortal species]] based on both sci-fi and fantasy races - Magic substance that is integrated into the magic and technology of the world called [[#Xeon and Your Stats|xeon]] - [[#Combat]] - [[Core Rules#Gameplay#Stamina|Stamina]]! - You use stamina for class abilities and attacks but *not* for other checks in order to keep the system as light as possible - You get more stamina per turn as you level up - Turn economy is easy because you just give the enemies as much stamina as the party - Team turn-based, where each team takes actions together - [[Critical Injuries]] - Different ways to die! Each is a little mini-game you get to play when your character is in danger of leaving this mortal coil! - Some injuries are easier to overcome and others make for *extremely* tense narrative moments - Milestone Leveling - Story-driven growth keeps XP out of the picture! Grinding isn't a central focus of the XRRPG - 15+ [[Core Rules#Classes|Classes]] - Multiclassing encouraged! Each class goes up to level 6, character max is 18 - Gain powers! - Use technology! - Learn magic! - [[#Modular Rule Systems|Modular Rules]] - [[Mech Rules]]: buy parts and build the mech of your dreams! - [[Drug Rules]]: get addicted to drugs - [[The Stress Meter]]: for horror- or drama-focused games! Descend into darkness - [[Webrunning]]: run through the gray web! A rogue-lite system inspired by video games # Xeon and Your Stats Xeon is both the spiritual and magical energy of the universe and the energy used to power your technology and your powers. Xeon is everywhere around you, and there are four colors of xeon, each found in a different type of location. Each of the four main stats that you use have both a physical and a mental component and describes a *way of being* and an array of traits more than one specific trait. Each stat is tied to a specific color of xeon. | Stat | Xeon Color | Universal Force | Places Found | Physical Aspect | Mental Aspect | | --------- | ---------- | -------------------------------- | ---------------------- | -------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------- | | Vigor | Red | Heat, light
The Stars | Heat sources | Movement, burst power | Force of will | | Endurance | Blue | Solidity, gravity
The Planets | Planets, solid objects | Toughness, endurance power | Resilience, endurance | | Intuition | Green | Life | Living beings | Dexterity | Instinct, creativity, perception, charisma | | Wit | Gray | Intelligence | Everywhere else | - | Learning, innovation, recall, synthesizing data | # Stamina The XRRPG is built around a stamina system that gives you more stamina per turn as you level up. Class abilities, especially damaging ones, are crafted to scale with how much stamina you use on them. The amount of stamina you can spend on one particular attack or ability also goes up as you level, so your strength and capacity increases as you grow! # Classes There are many classes to choose from, including tech-focused classes such as the [[Gunslinger]] or the [[Emitter Specialist]], power-focused classes such as the [[Tank (Blue Adept)]] and the [[Warrior (Red Adept)]], and magic-focused classes such as the [[Physic]] and the [[Bard]]. Multiclassing is mandatory! Each class only has 6 levels and each character has a total max level of 18, so each character will end up with multiple classes! Much of the focus of the RPG system is crafting a character with an interesting aesthetic and using that and their backstory to tie together dissimilar class abilities. # Adventuring The basic roll is a 2d10 + stat, and when you want to do anything that has a chance of failure you'll want to roll to see if your character can do it! Most tasks have multiple different angles that they can be approached from, so try to think what your character would do to play to their strengths! This way you can often roll using your chosen stat, which will influence how the check plays out. You gain several skills when you create your character and you can [[Gaining New Skills and Decaying DRs|continue to gain skills]] as you adventure! # Combat Combat is a team turned-based system, where each team leader rolls a d10 and the winner's team goes first. This way the team can coordinate their actions! Combat checks are always attacker rolls verses a Defender DC. The XRRPG is not incredibly lethal! Though if you want to you can have any attack apply a more severe critical injury. Check out [[Critical Injuries]] for more info on that. # Modular Rule Systems The XRRPG is designed with many different sets of extra rules that you can use if you wish! - [[Mech Rules]]: for if you want to pilot mechs! (also check out [[Kollopsis Mech Parts]] for a list of mech parts you can build a mech from) - [[Vehicle Rules]]: for if you wanna go all Mad Max - [[Drug Rules]]: for if you want to give your characters temporary buffs and possibly get them addicted to drugs - [[The Stress Meter]]: for if you want to put your characters in an extremely stressful situation; *perfect* for horror and thriller RPGs - [[Webrunning]]: for if you want to hook your characters up to the web and run around on it # Extra Cool Rules Here are some of my favorite parts of the system! - [[Critical Injuries]]: when you go unconscious there's a chance that you sustain a Critical Injury, and different types of attacks give you different types of Critical Injuries! - [[Kollopsis Cybermods]]: a list of cybermods to give your character! - [[Hikari Lore Drop]] and [[Hikari Lore Drop II]]: just some lore! - [[Druid (Green Adept)]]: one of the power classes! - [[Sorcerer]]: a pact mage class! - [[Physic]]: a magician class! # Contact Me If you have thoughts, questions, or suggestions please contact me at [email protected] or [join the discord](https://discord.gg/9ypZF5pBh6)!
