# Kitsune ## Description Kitsune are humanoid in figure, standing in a similar range of heights compared to humans though they have a few distinct features that set them apart from other animalistic races. Many myths and folk tales have described them as having illusory auras about them or having furry ears that rest atop their head, neither of which are true. Kitsune as a people have a select few hair colors: gray, red, white, and black. They do not possess fox like ears but they do have a more pointed ear structure similar to a half elf. Regardless of their sex they are rather slender, agile, and lithe people with a fox tail that matches their hair coloration. As female kitsune age they tend to grow more tails, their growth halting at 9 which is a sign of wisdom among the people. Other myths and stories of the kitsune speak of very fox like resemblances in their facial appearances, though this is not the case. Kitsune live to roughly 700 years in age, maturing at around 25 and gaining an additional tail every 75 years. ## History Alongside many monstrous races made within the early ages of the world, Kitsune were created by the Titans during the Age of Gold. The Titans decided to make the people as a trick on humanity, taking a group of tribal people that honored foxes as a spiritual guardian and transforming them into the first and rather primitive form of Kitsune. They were granted an inherent mysticism that resembled the spirits they worshiped, giving form to the tails and the changes to the other parts of their physiology. During the fall of the Age of Gold and the rise into the Age of Silver, Kitsune were seen with a heavy prejudice. While they were very close to human in nature and look, they were an outsider compared to the other settled races of the era. This caused the Kitsune to flee into the northern parts of Depocryss, where they settled in many locations that dot the mountainous region. As humanity began to grow its magical capabilities, the Blood Hunters were born. Upon command of the wizards and the church, these Blood Hunters formed a designated order for finding the Kitsune and hunting them down. This group was known as the Order of the Foxhound, appropriately named to track and hunt down the people. Over the course of many years, following the orders' inception and the migration of the Kitsune into the northern climates, many villages and settlements fell. Purged mercilessly from the world despite their efforts to live in solidarity, they seldom found peace. With the rise of humanity into a prosperous state, also came the peace that the Kitsune sought after for so long. Gone were the days of fear of the hunt, but instead now the people received a welcome from the church into the settlements that were prospering all over the different kingdoms. This acceptance into the wider societies of the world was taken with great hesitance, as the Kitsune had previously learned that the church was one of the leading parties to give the order of hunting them down. Eventually this led to the period known as the Vulpine Bloom, a time where the Kitsune population rose drastically and spread out into the formation of its own kingdom, named as the Vodolas Kingdom. During the Vulpine Bloom these people rose into one of the 5 kingdoms of Depocryss, a thriving population in a time where the acceptance of the church came freely for many races, despite their previous grudges and prejudice. This was a drastic change for their culture and was soon to change once more with the occurrences of the First and Second Great Wars. After the First Great War, the Vulpine King Solomon was slain through magical means due to his extended reign and his political power. Many respected members and nobles of the Vulpine King's Court were slain in battle as well as murdered through grand coups, which spawned from members of the Natural Order who had infiltrated the 5 kingdoms of Depocryss. As these coups came to pass, alongside the brief ascension of Solomon's son, the political climate and infrastructure of the Vodolas Kingdom fell to ruin. At this time, the Order of the Foxhound returned and began to hunt the Kitsune upon being contracted by the Natural Order to wipe them out. As the Big Bang came to pass, everyone was witness to the mass destruction that it brought and many lives were taken in the process. Upon the near extinctive event occurring, the Order withdrew all of their resources and members while the Kitsune people that remained fled to their neighboring kingdom of Tae'kahl. The mass migration of the Kitsune people lead to many peace talks among the Kingdom of Tae'kahl, to such a degree that as time went on the kingdom received its new name with the passing of the age and the resurgence of its populations. As the Great Calm came to pass, and the Age of Platinum became the Age of Copper, the Valkin Kingdom was born from the unity among the peoples of the Vodolas and Tae'kahl kingdoms. Alliances, brotherhoods, and great friendships were formed, though there were still individuals who saw the world with the eyes of old. Now in the modern day, the Kitsune are found as a large population in the town of Kyosuke, a rural region to the south of the kingdom's capital city. ## Racial Traits **Ability Score Increases** +1 Dexterity, +1 Charisma, -1 Con **Size** Kitsune stand between 4 and 6 feet tall.
