I'm Dan Allosso and this is my course content for a college class I'm teaching this fall (2025) on Ancient and Medieval World History. This will be a website of the content that will go into lectures and that we'll engage with and discuss over the course of the semester. Each week I'll add a chapter. I hope you enjoy the content and learn something! *In other news:* ![[IMG_3652.jpg]] I accidentally found myself in the Austrian town of Willendorf last May. We were just passing by -- I didn't even know Willendorf was in Austria! It's where the famous Venus of Willendorf statue was discovered in 1908. It's a small limestone statuette colored with red ochre, estimated to be 30,000 years old. There's a replica in the museum in the center of the village (the original is in a museum in Vienna), but the museum was closed when we drove through. Here's an image of the Venus, though: ![[800px-Venus_von_Willendorf_01.jpg]]
