Formerly an [[Architecture work|architect]], I am now a PhD candidate at the [Center for Neural Science](https://as.nyu.edu/departments/cns.html) at New York University and its affiliated [Shanghai track](https://shanghai.nyu.edu), advised by [Prof. Xing Tian](https://shanghai.nyu.edu/academics/faculty/directory/xing-tian) ([Slang Lab](http://slang.science/)). My research currently centers on two areas: the **neural computational mechanisms of meditation**, and **cognition-inspired AI**.
All my explorations stem from a persistent dialogue with "Nothingness": Why is there something rather than nothing? In the face of life's absurdity and impermanence, how is one to live? This metaphysical bewilderment fuels my research into the mind, intelligence, and the brain. I am drawn to a demystified, naturalistic Buddhism and a functionalist stance in philosophy, and this perspective shapes my research focus. I also hope my work extends beyond personal curiosity to make a positive contribution to the scientific community and general public, in the spirit of Dāna (the Buddhist virtue of giving).
Take a look at [[Research Summary|Research Projects Summary]] for a detailed walk-through.
Outside of my work, I enjoy hiking, ultimate frisbee, and city walks. I love cooking, exploring new cuisines, and visiting museums and exhibitions. I am also an avid fan of cyberpunk culture, martial arts (MMA, BJJ), and basketball.
