Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proud_Boys
- Started in 2016 by [[Gavin McInnes]]
- Came from the far-right Canadian magazine [[Taki's Magazine]], which at one point employed [[Richard Spencer]]
- In October 2019, the [[Proud Boys - Denver Chapter]] marched with the [[Patriot Front]] and [[Traditionalist Workers Party]]
- Has an affiliated women's group called [[Proud Boys' Girls]]
- At one point, the group was chaired by [[Enrique Tarrio]], who was also the Florida State Director of [[Latinos for Trump]]
- In July 2018, the [[Proud Boys - LA Chapter]] president (currently unidentified) stated the chapter had 160 members and 300 applicants
- In 2018, the group named Tarrio and [[Proud Boys - Elder Chapter]] leaders [[Harry Fox]], [[Heath Hair]], [[Patrick William Roberts]], [[Joshua Hall]], [[Timothy Kelly]], [[Luke Rofhling]] and [[Rufio Panman (Ethan Nordean)]] as leaders, alongside their short lived legal council [[Jason Lee Vann Dyke]]
- [[Kyle "Based Stickman" Chapman]] attempted what was definitely the lamest coup of all time when he tried to just... assume leadership over the group in 2020, rebrand it to Proud Goys and take it an explicitly white supremacist direction. Nobody went with it, which is as hilarious as it is sad
- The [[Proud Boys - Alabama Chapter]] and [[Proud Boys - Indiana Chapter]] and [[Proud Boys - Oklahoma Chapter]] split from the group after the [[Jan 6 Insurrection]] where several Proud Boys were arrested or would be for attending the event
- [[Roger Stone]] also affiliated with the Proud Boys, using them as security and going out drinking with them while flashing a white power symbol
![[Pasted image 20250107171642.png]]
- Enrique Tarrio was personally involved with Stone, defending him and selling Stone-themed merch
- After [[Donald Trump]]'s "Stand Back and Stand By" statement in the first 2020 presidential debate, [[Joe Biggs]] began using the phrase as a catch phrase on PB branded propaganda.
- Proud Boys attended a rally in [[Berkley]] [[California]] with [[Kyle "Based Stickman" Chapman]], [[Oath Keepers]], [[Identity Evropa]] and others
- They were also in attendance of the [[Unite the Right]] rally in August 2017, which was organized by [[Jason Kessler]]. This is where the [[assault of DeAndre Harris]] took place, where [[Alex Michael Ramos]], who was a part of [[Proud Boys - Fraternal Order of Alt-Knights]], beat a man alongside 3 others.
- They were also associated with [[Patriot Prayer]] in the [[PNW]]
- After a brawl broke out in 2018 at the [[Metropolitan Republican Club]] in Manhattan, [[Douglas Lennan]], [[Jake Freijo]] and [[Eryk Kacznyski]] took plea deals to avoid prison. [[Maxwell Hare]] and [[John Kinsman]] were both convicted and sentenced to 4 years in prison for gang assault and riot. Antifascists in these cases refused to work with cops and their identities are not known (pretty based)
- During a rally the Proud Boys and [[Patriot Prayer]] named the "End Domestic Terrorism" rally in [[Portland]], [[Oregon]], there were more counter protesters than Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer members, especially after Patriot Prayer's [[Joey Gibson]] was taken into custody for felony rioting. They requested a police escort in order to leave. Manly men.
- During the [[COVID lockdowns]], the Proud Boys were Proud Purveyors of misinformation and organized and attended several anti-lockdown protests.
- After several assaults, well known Proud Boy [[Tusitala "Tiny" Toese]] was arrested in 2020. He was previously affiliated with Patriot Prayer.
- [[Alan Swinney]], another Proud Boy who was based out of [[Texas]], was sentenced to 10 years for spraying protesters with bear mace, ruining a man's eye with a paintball gun and repeatedly aiming a .357 magnum at protesters.
- [[Enrique Tarrio]] was sentenced to 6 months in prison for vandalizing a black church and carrying high capacity weapon magazines in his car. He was also banned from DC after another black church was vandalized by Tarrio and others. Members Tarrio, [[Joe Biggs]], [[Jeremy Bertino]] and [[John Turano]] were fined a collective $1M in civil penalties by a DC judge.
- Unsurprisingly, Proud Boys had a large showout at the [[Jan 6 Insurrection]], to include one former member showing up at the insurrection with the neo-Nazi group he founded, [[NSC-131]]
- The NYT video investigation of Jan 6, as well as officer and individual testimonies, showed that [[Joe Biggs]], [[Dominic Pezzola]] and other Proud Boys were instrumental in the overrun of police forces and the breach of the Capitol, taking both leadership and hans-on rolls in the breach.
- The Proud Boys had been in contact with the [[Oathkeepers - Florida Chapter]] leader [[Kelly Meggs]] and members of the [[Three Percenters - Florida Chapter]] in the days leading up to the attack.
- Proud Boys member [[Christopher Worrell]] of [[Florida]] was arrested for his role in Jan 6 and fled house arrest before being sentenced to 10 years in prison.
- A DC police lieutenant named [[Shane Lamond]] was arrested in 2023 for leaking details about their investigation of the Proud Boys to [[Enrique Tarrio]]
- Another member, [[William Chrestman]], was sentenced to 55 months for his role in Jan 6
- In 2022, a number of Proud Boys were indicted for conspiracy and a myriad of other crimes, including:
- [[Enrique Tarrio]] - 22 years
- [[Joe Biggs]] - 17 years
- [[Rufio Panman (Ethan Nordean)]] - 18 years
- [[Dominic Pezzola]] - 10 years
- [[Zachary Rehl]] - 15 years
- [[Freedom Vy]]
- [[Isaiah Giddings]]
- [[Brian Healion]]
- [[William Pepe]] - fired from his job with the MTA
- [[Lucas Denney]] - 52 months
- [[Donald Hazard]] - 4 years and 9 months
- Enrique Tarrio was also revealed to have been a narc between 2012 and 2014
- In 2022, Proud Boys in [[California]] stormed a drag queen story hour, terrifying kids and possibly spurring a hate crime investigation
- Apparently they also got into a fight with the [[Rose City Nationalists]] causing a rift in the organization in 2023
- Proud Boys have been spotted wearing themed shirts sporting the slogan [[6MWE (6 Million Wasn't Enough)]], in reference to the Jews killed in the Holocaust
