# School of Necromancy The school of Necromancy is a minor school of [[magic]] under the major [[school of Restoration]], though it is often misclassified. Some scholars argue for it to be under the domain of the major [[school of Conjuration]] instead for its ties to manipulating the soul. The school of Necromancy is the magic of soul displacement and the decay of living tissue. At its core, it compels spirits in and out of corpses, and accelerates the breakdown of organic life. This school of magic is forbidden almost universally for its unnatural and inhumane handling of the dead, and the danger that comes with it with improper or misuse of its magic. It is mostly used for creating simple undead like zombies and skeletons. The reanimation process starts with finding a dead body, if soul is still tethered to it, the mage must tear it out which is often extremely painful for both the mage and the soul. After so, the mage would imbue the body with a soul captured from another living thing, the greater the soul used the more powerful the undead would be at the cost of harder control of it gaining control over itself.
