# School of Evocation The school of Evocation is a minor school of [[magic]] under the major [[school of Alteration]]. Comparatively, Alteration and Evocation is nearly identical. The only difference is that Evocation is characterized by how it is only comprised of offensive spells. However, since the boundary between the 2 schools are slim, it is acceptable to call Evocations spells Alteration spells, as well as some Alteration spells as Evocation spells. The split first came from when a *Acilic city state* from the late [[First Era]] who wished to limit the use of what was called "war magic" at the time. Therefore, they had the mages association reclassify the spells and schools of magic. This trend caught on with the other states which later become the default.
