One of the five original [[Native Americans|Native American]] tribes of the [[Dan's History Web/US 1/Topic Index/Iroquois|Haudenosaunee]], living south of Lake Ontario. As the centermost of the five, their territory was typically the meeting ground for the confederacy. The culture hero who created the league, [[Hiawatha]], was an Onondaga.
