Neolin (which means "enlightened one") had a vision on 1761 that led him to preach that [[Native Americans]] should return to their traditional ways, shun the trade goods of the colonists, and reject alcohol and materialism. His teachings were expanded by [[Pontiac]], who led a war against white settlers in the [[Dan's History Web/US 1/Topic Index/Ohio River]] Valley and [[Dan's History Web/US 1/Notes to Fill/Great Lakes]] region.
