
A plantation owned by the [Washington family](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_family) and home of [[George Washington]] from 1754. The 8,000-acre property along the [[Potomac River]] was acquired by the family in 1674 and the manor house built by George's father [Augustine Washington](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augustine_Washington "Augustine Washington") in 1734.
