Leif was probably born in [[Dan's History Web/US 1/Topic Index/Iceland]], but would have lived in [[Greenland]] as a boy, when his father [[Erik the Red]] was leader of the Norse settlement there. Leif has been commemorated in statues in Saint Paul, Minnesota; Seattle, Washington, Boston, Massachusetts; and Reykjavik, Iceland. ![Leif Erikson by John K.
