Two hills in Charlestown Massachusetts, north across the Charles River from Boston. When the American Patriots fortified the hills with artillery, the British occupying Boston under the command of [Thomas Gage](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Gage) and [William Howe](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Howe,_5th_Viscount_Howe) attacked the hills on June 17, 1775 in the [[Battle of Bunker Hill]].
