*"The Death of General Warren at the Battle of Bunker's Hill" by [John Trumbull](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Trumbull).* One of the first battled of the [[American Revolution]], fought on June 17, 1775 on [[Breed’s Hill and Bunker Hill]] north of Boston. The British objective was to neutralize artillery that threatened their position occupying [[Dan's History Web/US 1/Topic Index/Boston]]. Although the British won the battle, they lost 226 dead and 828 wounded. [General Clinton](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Clinton_(British_Army_officer,_born_1730)) wrote in his diary, "A few more such victories would have shortly put an end to British dominion in America."
