## Brief summary about my career
<br>
**Vivek Verma** graduated from [Indian Institute of Technology Madras](https://www.iitm.ac.in/) , India in 2017 with a Integrated Bachelors-Masters dual degree in [Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, IIT Madras](https://mme.iitm.ac.in/). Thereafter, he finished his Ph.D. in [School of Materials Science and Engineering](https://www.ntu.edu.sg/mse) at [Nanyang Technological University - NTU Singapore](https://www.ntu.edu.sg/) with [Prof. Madhavi Srinivasan](https://web.mse.ntu.edu.sg/homepages/madhavi/index.html) in 2022. During his Ph.D., using X-ray diffraction and absorption spectroscopy techniques in collaborations with [Synchrotron Light Research Institute(SLRI), Thailand](https://www.slri.or.th/en_web/), he developed inorganic host materials and electrolyte formulations for rechargeable zinc-ion batteries as grid-scale energy storage applications.
After finishing his Ph.D., Vivek joined [Singapore-CEA Alliance for Research in Circular Economy (SCARCE) | NTU Singapore](https://www.ntu.edu.sg/scarce) lab in NTU Singapore with a focus on recycling of spent Li-ion battery materials. Here, Vivek is using hydrometallurgy and bulk X-ray characterization methods to recover and recycle critical transition metals from spent Li-ion batteries.
Starting in May 2025, Vivek Verma joined as an Assistant Professor at [Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur](https://www.iitk.ac.in/) in the department of [Sustainable Energy Engineering](https://www.iitk.ac.in/see/) where his teaching and research directions will focus on urban mining, e-waste recycling, and sustainable battery materials.
