The Ruler scripts are used to display labels at a specific interval of planetary travel, forwards or backwards.

The Ruler scripts are used to find time cycles that resonate with an asset.
This is among the most powerful scripts in the Time Trades toolkit.
After anchoring the cycle, it will draw the specified planetary cycles on the price chart.
![[Pasted image 20231227215816.png]]
The objective of this script is to quickly identify the time cycles that are active in any given asset.
There are 42 cycles supported in total across all 3 scripts.
Helio is short for Heliocentric. This means we measure the cycle as an observer on the Sun.
Geo is short for Geocentric. This means we measure the cycle as an observer on Earth.
Synodic means we measure the cycle in terms of the progression that the inner planet makes relative to the outer planet. Think of the inner, faster planet being the short hand on a clock, and the outer, slower planet being the long hand on the clock. We are measuring the separation between the inner planet and the outer planet.
[[Venus Intervals]] in the Time Trades script is another way to visualize the Venus/Earth synodic cycle using the 6 intervals.
## Purpose
The objective of the ruler is to find nonlinear cycles by using planetary and lunar cycles as the time reference.
Depending on the timeframe you're analyzing, you can use a slow planet or synodic pair for weekly or monthly timeframes, or fast inner planets or synodic pairs for daily or even intraday timeframes.
## Usage
After adding the Ruler to your chart you're prompted to set the anchor point.
You need to click somewhere on the chart history to establish the anchor point.
Ruler can count forwards or backwards from this anchor point.
Counting backwards is very useful to identify which cycle cause a major high or low.
The anchor point is typically:
- A major high
- A major low
- The date of a major astrological event like a Jupiter/Saturn conjunction. The most recent one was 21 December 2020.
After setting the ruler, choose the planets whose timing you want to analyze and compare the labels with pivots and major moves. You should see a strong correlation. If you don't, try a different planet or synodic pair. Trial and error is encouraged.
![[Pasted image 20240126211337.png]]
This is an example of a strong correlation. This is NDX with the Ruler anchored to 2021-12-27 showing how Mars/Uranus synodic cycles align with major turns.
The yellow vertical lines were manually added to emphasize the accuracy of the turns.
I strongly recommend you watch this [Michael Jenkins Youtube Video](https://youtu.be/AmVtUHvhrCI?si=p2KrxmhDX8ecAsW2&t=897). You'll get some excellent techniques on how to configure the settings based on the price of the asset you're analyzing.
## Techniques to Set Ruler Angles
1. Actual Measurements
Use the [[TT Measure Scripts]] to measure the distance in degrees between 2 price pivots to see if they repeat in the past.
2. Use static angles from the Michael Jenkins video linked above and reproduced here:
| 360 / 2 | Both (Doubly Strong) | 360 / 3 |
| ------- | -------------------- | ------- |
| 5.63° | | 7.5° |
| 11.25° | | 15° |
| | 22.5° | |
| 33.75° | | 37.5° |
| | 45° | 52.5° |
| 56.25° | | 60° |
| | 67.5° | 75° |
| 78.75° | | 82.5° |
| | 90° | 97.5° |
| 101.25° | | 105° |
| | 112.5° | 120° |
| 123.75° | | 127° |
| | 135° | 142.5° |
| 146.25° | | 150° |
| | 157.5° | 165° |
| 168.75° | | 172.5° |
| | 180° | |
| | 360° | |
> [!IMPORTANT]
> Note that these values can also be used for price, and not just time (degrees).
2. Kabbala ratios
137.5°
150.5°
209.5°
## Multiple Ruler Usage
Multiple copies of the Ruler are supported on a single chart.
Simply add a 2nd copy of the Ruler to your chart and anchor it to a different date.
![[Pasted image 20240126211822.png]]
This is an example of 2 different Ruler scripts on the same chart. Label overlap is avoided by adjusting the [[#Options]] to ensure each Ruler script draws its labels in a different screen area.
## Moon Techniques
![[Pasted image 20240126212230.png]]
Often the distance between the number of sidereal Moons (lunar orbits) and synodic Lunations (phases) correlates with volatility.
When these labels are evenly spaced about 2 weeks apart, *some* markets tend to be choppier.
When these labels converge together to appear at or close to the same time, *some* markets tend to trend.
## Settings
### Anchor Settings
![[Pasted image 20240126204805.png|400]]
#### Anchor Time
The date and time of the anchor point of the ruler. All the cycles start counting from zero on this date and time.
#### Anchor Label Color
The color of the special label used to identify the anchor point.
### Moon Settings (TT Ruler Inner Current)
![[Pasted image 20240126204828.png|400]]
#### Sidereal Moon
Counts the number sidereal lunar orbits since the anchor date/time. This is a 27.3 day cycle and is the time of the Moon to return to the same position relative to the fixed star background.
#### Synodic Moon
Counts the number of lunations since the anchor date/time. This is a 29.5 day cycle and is the time between the same Moon phases (ie full Moon to full Moon).
### Planet Settings
![[Pasted image 20240905212144.png|400]]
Each planet has a custom degree interval that you can set.
Once set the script will display a label in the chosen color once the planet moves the specified degrees.
All degree intervals are heliocentric except the Sun, Moon and Ascendant.
### Options
![[Pasted image 20240905212226.png|400]]
Tooltip lets you add a custom tooltip to the label. This is helpful when you have multiple rulers on your screen and you want to differentiate between them (ie "29 High" and "32 Low")
Description is a spot for you to add your own personal notes about this ruler configuration and why the degree intervals were chosen.
Label size controls the size of the labels.
Label location controls where on the screen the labels are displayed. These options match the Time Trades Events script so that you can prevent label overlap when using these scripts simultaneously.
This options also allow you to use multiple instances of the Rulers script on the same chart as described in [[#Multiple Ruler Usage]].
