For I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you and for those at Laodicea and for all who have not seen me face to face, > 2. that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ, > 3. in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. #### 1 - This is continuing on from 1:29 where he talks about how his struggling is done using the strength provided by God. #### 2 - Knit together - symbibazo - συμβιβάζω - sym - synonomous with syn - with, together - bibazo - from the root baino or basis - to walk - So together, it means to walk together. - Full assurance of understanding - plerophoria - πληροφορία - This is another use of "fullness" as in [[Colossians 1_19 - The Fullness of God]]. - So we aspire to have a "complete fullness" in our understanding. - I think this can only be achieved through a systematic theology. - Thinking back to [[Colossians 1_9-14 - Increasing in Knowledge and Wisdom and Transfer of Domains]], Paul's desire is for their knowledge to increase, so their fruits will increase. Now he says that they must join together in order to be full of the understanding and knowledge of Christ. So, knowledge and understanding are not had fully outside of [[Fellowship]].
