I'm a robotics engineer trying to teach robots how to see. I'm also very interested in fundamental AI research. Solving general intelligence is about solving the problem of problem-solving, in other words, the metaproblem. It is therefore arguably the single highest leverage problem of our time. The right solutions are always the most elegant ones, and elegance is that which I seek in the solutions I find myself most attracted to. I believe that nature has a lot to teach us when it comes to engineering efficient things that last. In particular, I have always been utterly fascinated by the brain, often labeled the most complex thing in the universe. Understanding its mechanisms will give us insight into near-optimal solutions to the metaproblem. This blog will hold an ever-expanding library of my personal thoughts on topics of interest. In putting them out there, I hope at least a single reader will find in them the seeds of inspiration to branch out and pursue beautiful ideas.
