After the dust had settled, [[Aian Nuh Monahbi|Aian]] began working on everyone who had been injured. I had taken a few hits, although it only took him 10 minutes to cover over the burns. To fully treat everyone else it took him a full hour, allowing the uninjured to mill about and relax. We collected all the coins that were strewn around the room, finding a total of 490 gold pieces. Importantly these are gold pieces from this timeline, so we will not have to deal with scale based trading and potentially getting hit with upcharges. I spent a bit of time going through my books to try and identify what we had fought. All I could come up with was some form of either earth or metal elemental, though my details on such creatures are rather sparse. In our original timeline they had been cut off from their planes by [[The Door|the Wall]], resulting in the ones on the material plane dying soon after [[The Door|the Wall]] went up. After that none were able to cross into the material plane, so for over a thousand years there were no sightings of elementals to document.
During [[Aian Nuh Monahbi|Aian]]'s treatment, large boils began to grow on [[Gobby]]'s skin. We figured this was related to the Ghonhatine, and after a bit more research [[Aian Nuh Monahbi|Aian]] and [[Skelly the Skeleton|Skelly]] worked out that it was a disease called "Flesh Gout". If left untreated Flesh Gout is almost always lethal, so we needed to slow down for the day and let [[Aian Nuh Monahbi|Aian]] perform some more extensive medical work. We did not want to stay in an area with poisonous mushrooms, so we returned to the main portion of the caves and found the dead end with the Ysoki backpack again. It was a nice, clean, 10m x 10m cave with only a single entrance, making it the perfect spot to rest for the day and the night.
It was 1:30pm by the time that we had settled into the cave, giving me the time to perform some crafting. It's harder out in the wild, but I am able to carry most of the essentials and can cover the rest with magic. [[Aian Nuh Monahbi|Aian]]'s treatment plan seemed to be working, but we are not going to know the results until tomorrow morning. [[Gobby]] was able to cobble together all of the ingredients for a long lasting Anti-Plague, so I have faith that they will get over it tomorrow.

## Sarenith 29th, 1124 AR
The night went smoothly, no sounds of any concern, let alone attacks. By the time that morning had rolled around [[Gobby]]'s boils abated, but they were not out of the woods just yet. Unfortunately [[Aian Nuh Monahbi|Aian]] could not perform the required procedures to help [[Gobby]] fend off this section of the disease, so they needed to do their best just with the anti-plague.
There was no reason to just stay in one place and wait, so we began exploring the cave again. We started with a run through of all the places we had already been, wanting to make sure that we had not missed anything. [[Eos]] and [[Xander Ironfang|I]] used our Tremorsensors to search for any hidden rooms and or passages, but we found nothing. After this we were confident that there was only one place nearby left to search save the collapsed Ysoki tunnel. There were a set of stairs upwards from the highest point we had reached in this set of caves. They lead to another small section, a collapsed stairway up on one side, an in-tact one on the other. There were some new mushrooms growing from the wall, this time they were both edible and delicious. We took some for future cooking, useful given that we might be stuck underground for a while.
In between the two was 5 meter long tunnel which lead to a dead end, an interesting rock sitting on the ground at the end. It was about half a meter in diameter and roughly cylindrical, ever so slightly carved. The main portion of the rock was a slate grey, however there were veins of a blue phosphorescent gem running through it. I could not tell what material it was, however [[Eos]] determined that it was in some way related to the [[Aetheric Battery]] crystal. At his request I pulled out a small, uncharged [[Aetheric Battery|battery]] and held it close to the stone to see what would happen. There was a flash of light, then suddenly a pufferfish was flopping on the floor and the [[Aetheric Battery|battery]] was glowing brightly. It appeared that a power transfer had occurred, and a summoning spell had occurred as a result. We were lucky that it was not a more painful spell, as I have absolutely heard tales of self casted Fireball.
---
The poor little pufferfish, thrown into an environment that it couldn't survive in. There was just no sea water to put it in, so [[Thatch]] put it out of its misery before it could suffer too much. It couldn't have been a squirrel or something?
---
Yes, it is truly unfortunate to witness such a pointless loss of life. I realized after the fact that I may have been able to prolong its life ever so slightly with the water from my umbrella, however without a storage container or the proper food it would not have lasted for very long.
With this hallway cleared we went to climb the stairs, finding that they went surprisingly far up. After a 10 minute climb the stairs opened into a large cavern, clearly a place that some sort of creatures lived. There were 16 primitive dwellings carved into the sides of the cavern and a seemingly non-magical carved obelisk in the centre. We began to shout "Hello" in a variety of languages, everything that could reasonably have been spoken here. There was no response, prompting us to search for signs of life. While this cavern might have been inhabited at some point, it had been a while since people were last there. There was a single room on the opposite side from the stairs up that had another set of stairs in it, once again leading up into the darkness. While those of us with darkvision could see the top of the last set of stairs, these ones went far enough that nobody could see the end.
After a short discussion we decided to go back and check out the Ysoki tunnel, hoping that it might lead to a better pathway. Whatever created the stairs at the top did not seem to be Ysoki, and given that [[Crescent]] is our connection to these mountains, we would like to find people that she is familiar with. Back at the collapsed tunnel we began to dig, slowly uncovering a cleanly carved straight tunnel on the other side.
---
You say "we", but you and [[Kiara Ironfang|I]] didn't really dig...
---
It was the "royal we", and I helped by directing where to dig. Neither of us are physically strong, it was better to leave it to the rest of [[Leaves in the Wind|the group]]. In any case. Once the the tunnel had been fully excavated we began to hear the stone moan and crack, a sign that the entrance was in no way stable. [[Crescent]] informed us that the work order from [[Fratley]] had specifically asked for reinforcements to be put up, and there was distinct lack of them at the mouth of this cave. The opening was not going to hold very long, so we had to quickly decided on what to do. We agreed that given the presence of Ysoki tools this was the way to go, even if it might trap us underground for a long time. Thankfully [[Gobby]] is able to make vials of sunlight for [[Thatch]] to consume, so we do not have to be worried like we were in brassbottom keep. It should also be noted that by this point [[Gobby]] had clearly beaten off the last of the Flesh Gout, so we did not need to spend another 8 hours doing nothing while [[Aian Nuh Monahbi|Aian]] performed more treatment. Instead we got to walk...

> Maybe if [[Gobby]] showered every once and a while they wouldn't get the plague.
