I often see games be referred to as "Baby's First X," usually with derision. "**Pokemon** is baby's first [[JRPG]]," for example. I think that's kind of silly. I love games that are "baby's first" in a genre. Because what it usually means is that you're playing a game that's accessible, well-paced, has a good cast of characters, and is appealing to everyone. They're gateway games that can get people into a new genre they might not have considered before, or into games as a whole. That's cool!
