![[wings.gif]] ## What's your Cohost Link? [internet-janitor](https://cohost.org/internet-janitor) ## What's the thing? Decker is a multimedia stuff-making tool similar in many ways to HyperCard on classic MacOS. For the more Windows-inclined it's sort of like a weird mashup of Powerpoint, MSPaint, and VisualBasic. It can be a drawing program, it can be used for making interactive zines, and with a little bit of programming it can even be used to make visual novels or video games. Decker is available as a native application, and can also run in a web browser. Part of my motivation for creating Decker was my yearning for more interactive multimedia stuff like we had in the golden era of Flash: toys and games that are easy to make and easy to share. I think it's a real bummer that "sharing things online" has been reduced to just images, text, audio, and video in most contexts. I've tried hard to make Decker accessible and inviting to beginners, but also provide depth and flexibility so that projects can start small and have room to grow. I hope that it will be empowering and useful to creatives from a wide range of backgrounds. ## Link the thing! https://beyondloom.com/decker/ ## Anything else? There are a handful of Decker enthusiasts on cohost that share things with the `#decker` tag. Those users are the reason I joined the site![^1] [^1]: Mint Note: fun fact, I actually have an existing page on [[Decker]] in this garden as part of a list of [[Video Game Creation Resources]], lol
