Blue Mats
A form of colonial mat found on various worlds, usually with lots of cupric inflection from the local geochemistry. They are not always blue, they often may have a mixture of iridescent greenish-blue colorations from the mix of chemotrophic and autotrophic organisms within the colonial aggregation of micro-organisms and meiofauna living from the mat. The bluish tilt is due to in effect, both a product of a late F-class star and the chemotrophic clades of bacteria which compose it. More advanced aggregations are able to form surprisingly intricate strands and fibers with specialized functionality in adhesion to local cliffsides or even artificial infrastructure. They have also been observed flourishing around hot substances in general, moreso than earthly bacteria. On the world [[Dwaine|Dwaine]], they even seasonally create clusters of bulbs as part of their fairly fungus-like reproduction pattern. They seem to show more rigorous organization behavior than mold on Earth does, but nothing too dangerous. There are theorists on [[Dwaine|Dwaine]] who have cold the blue mat a ptoto-gaian algae, but it never had the time to become something as 'monstrous' as [[The Red Mat]] or as sophisticated as [[Stargi]]. Biotechnological computation research as a result has fixated on the Blue Mats due to their relatively 'tame' cultures.
