![[kurfel-symbol.png|200]] _contributed by player of [[Jelb Garrick, Illusionist|Jelb]]_ Kurfel was said to be many things.  The youngest of the [[Powers/Gods/Anganach|Anganach]].  The oldest of the [[The Futurus]].  A fallen angel.  A redeemed demon.  A gnomish archmage.  And he has appeared as all of these things and more.  If his true nature is known, it has not been shared broadly.  There is no consistency with regard to where or when he will appear, nor what he would be doing in particular.  Most stories of him indicate that the [[Gods|higher powers]] welcomed him with open arms when he came calling... if only to attempt to keep their eye on him. What is certain is that he is a master of deception and illusion, and that when he appeared, life was disrupted.  For the goodly, the disruption was like the tilling of the earth before planting - good things appeared thereafter that could not have come otherwise.  For the evil, the disruption was like upsetting a table that had been carefully prepared - perhaps it could be reset, but beyond the loss of time was always broken materiel. Kurfel has no formal church, though some claim to be his priests and others called on him at various times.  There are stories of someone answering prayers when he is called upon, but not enough to merit his inclusion in the membership of any pantheon in the minds of [[Mortalkind|mortals]].  And as Kurfel has not appeared in over two centuries, the shorter-lived races have forgotten him altogether.
