# Critical Rationalism
A part of the rationalist tradition placing emphasis on human reason over sense data in our quest to understand the world (in contrast with empiricism). It is the name that is given to the epistemic philosophy of Karl Popper.
In Critical Rationalism, the purpose of rationality is as a source of criticism. All knowledge is spawned from the process of conjecture and criticism. In philosophy this is in the form of argument, and in science this is by testing our attempts to explain the world through observation and experiment.
