Sometimes the crash is based more rationally on factual evidence, sometimes less so. Do other authors manage to avoid it? Perhaps some do. But I know the pattern is not unique to me, and I have learned that itā€™s pretty much inevitable and thereā€™s not much to do except ride it out until you begin to feel robust enough to regroup. > My books are not designed for immediate explosive success; they tend to find their readers gradually and quietly, by word of mouth. I already have heard from them and trust they havenā€™t been lying when theyā€™ve told me they felt bereft when the book ended. This new quilt is one Iā€™ve been affectionately calling ā€œcompost quiltā€. Itā€™s made entirely from old clothing handed down to me from a few households in our fam. Iā€™m using the fastest, least wasteful of patterns: a wide strip quilt. I cut with a looser hand than I usually do, keeping in stains and worn parts. This is not an heirloom piece- its purpose is in the using up and the making. --- Note to Self: *Note somewhere 5 sheets, one envelope and stamp comes to 1oz exactly (with current paper & envelopes)* Move videos to an offline location in obsidian.
