# Egregore - the spirit of a collective
[[Egregore]] is an esoteric term describing a collective spirit as intelligent entity with its own logic, goals, ethics and willpower. It offers a perspective of seeing any stable group of people as a living being that we can interact with. It can influence our life, affecting our decisions. So we should take egregore as important subject of our life
### The nature of egregore
Egregore is the spirit of the collective. This is the force that creates, organizes, leads and ultimately destroys the collective. An egregore is a subject of the collective subconscious. It is non-material and resides on the subtle plane of our reality. Belonging to an egregore is expressed in a mystical sense of involvement, when a certain group of people feels like “their own”.
By spirit we mean a subtle, non-material entity with a certain level of intelligence. Egregores is not just a vague atmosphere around certain group of people. It's a collective Mind that governs the collective: coordinates individual members, unites their efforts in one direction, manages the completion of group tasks and forms the rules of interaction between the participants. Every egregore has its own mission, ethics and willpower.
Any sustainable collective that has a sense of community has an egregore: all big religions, nations, states, political parties and corporations have their egregores. The same goes for smaller groups like family, friends and even [[Couple egregore|couples]].
An egregor always precedes the corresponding organisation. It creates certain conditions on Earth, sends specific energetic currents to the individuals it chooses, and the collective appears seemingly “out of nowhere” and “of its own accord.” Then egregore take shape through positions, symbols, and a kind of charter or code.
> - A coat of arms, flag, and anthem for a nation.
> - Symbols, icons, temples, and sacred texts for religions.
> - A name, logo, and brand for corporations.
> - Clothing, musical tastes, and ethical codes for subcultures.
> - Secret gestures, unique slang, and nicknames among friends.
> - A favourite song, restaurant or special places, and affectionate nicknames in couples.

### Connection to egregore
Belonging to an egregore is expressed in a mystical sense of involvement, when a certain group of people feels like “my own”. It manifests in a collective self-identification when one uses a pronounce "We" instead of "I". However, it's important to see the actual involvement since the connection can be suppressed.
You can identify your connection to an egregore through the intuitive sense of “us vs them.” If you feel a sense of unity with a certain group—your nation, social class, religion, favourite brand, or family—you are interacting with an egregore. The sense of involvement itself is more important than its quality. A person may have hostile feelings towards a certain collective but still be connected to it. For example, a son may hate their family, while being connected to its egregore.
The outer more visible manifestation is a self-identification with a certain group of people. When a person speaks from the perspective of a whole collective.
> When you say, “In our family, that’s just not done,” it’s your family egregor speaking through you.
> When, during a conversation with your partner, you say, “So what are we going to do about it?”—that’s your couple egregor speaking.
> And when someone says, “We won the war,” it’s their national expressing itself.
The absence of such sense of belonging doesn't necessarily mean the absence of egregore. Sometimes the sense of belonging may be repressed into the subconscious, so a person doesn't acknowledge their connection to an egregore. That's typical for immigrants who consciously left their country but still continue being in their informational bubble. So important to pay attention to the actual connection — if a collective plays affect the behavior or way of thinking of a person, such person is a part of egregore.
### The influence on individuals
An egregore guides the collective through life. In order to do so it needs to influence all of its members, coordinate their actions and direct their attention. Most of the time it affects us through subconscious. But sometimes it can directly affect our life.
An egregore influences an individual through their subconscious. It insensibly forces an individual to identify themselves with the group and see the world through the Egregore’s eyes. Thus an individual recognises the group’s values and goals as their own.
> Consider a geopolitical tension between two countries. Although there’s no personal spite between their people, they feel hostile towards each other. That’s the hostility of the two national egregores in conflict, which affects personal relationships between individuals.
Moreover, an egregore may directly interfere with the flow of a person’s life, setting up “random” encounters; excite emotional reactions, pushing a person to act in a certain way; empower a person with energy to carry out its assignments or, conversely, weaken a person to immobilise them.
### Practical meaning
Every day we interact with multiple egregores: from social egregore to our family one. Each egregore can significantly affect our life. Different egregores have different ethics and goals that sometimes can lead to direct confrontation. Knowing our relationship with all egregores many drastically simplify our life. We can consciously work with egregore, realizing ourselves in group dynamic.
Every day, a human interacts with a multitude of egregores, each of which wants as much activation as possible. For example, in the morning we interact with family egregore. Then on work with a company egregore and colleagues egregore. After work we see our group of friends. All the time also indetify ourselves as liberal — this Interacting with liberal egregore.
Every egregore has different goals and values. Family wants a dad to spend as much time with their kids as possible. Corporate egregore wants profit. Friendship — support or fun time. The ethics may differ drastically. We might be against the market (liberal egregore) but work for a company to make profit. Family wants to grow, friends want to have fun. In the periods of acute social transformation, this competition can turn into a real war for the human soul. And then the person will face a very strong pressure and a critical internal dilemma.
> In peaceful times people of different political views may well form a family. But in times of political crisis, the confrontation between two political egregores may escalate so much that people will have to choose between the family and political loyalty. In other words they will have to choose between the family egregore and the party egregore.
By knowing our connection, we can increase our awareness. So we know what egregores we serve and why. We can also use our connections and interact with egregore directly. And know how to say no.
