Eber was the great-grandson of Shem, yet we read, "to Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber." Though we will be shown Eber's fathers (Shelah and Arpachshad), so we can make the vital, genealogical connection between him and Shem, their lives must have left little of eternal significance on earth.
