# hyperthrust reality
in which it may happen when researchers first wake up or while flying on an airplane or driving in a car to essentially unknowable destinations
one minute they're watching or rather staring at the holotv when something in scene inexplicably changes
common objects seen on screen once taken for granted say in an all too familiar sitcom now appear highlighted peculiar and foreign
like one has recently arrived on a planet but doesn't know from where
this feeling will pass quickly but it may linger say for rest of one's unnatural scientific daze
close the eyes and turn inward but now even thoughts running through a largely empty skull feel different
not just thoughts themselves but even the way one thinks one thinks
like the act of thinking itself is a thin stream of semi transparent words running through hollow midnight chambers of mind are both haunting and unreal
full of secret forever almost about to be realized potentiality
almost as if they have no real essential elf
where ego does kinda exist but it's now seen as more a persistent illusion
only remnant of some / that bs inner strength which once quietly and automatically enabled one to deal with quote the real world
yet which also cheerfully neglects truer inner spaces of odd purple midnight desert feeling emotion and imagination
often this feeling settles into a mode of nothing muchness as if one were without emotions or virtually undead
shuffling around in the parody that is super passive electro undead consumerism
or that the secret fear lurking within which threatens to blossom into full blown existential panic attacks
say regarding the fundamental underlying living bionature of sentient superfluid reality
but when it hits hard for the first time say when one first witnesses jessie mach go into hyperthrust on / in as holotv one is convinced
finally outside of the insane hive mind society set up to exist not live in
waiting in cold sweat puddles to see when and if one finally goes over the edge never to return to bovine unspoken salad days
specific tired as said reality assumptions
researcher of big science k0de blue: wait a sec you mean jessie mach ex motorcycle officer who was injured in the line of duty but is now an institutional troubleshooter recruited by and for a beyond secrete guv sponsored mission to ride street hawk an all terrain attack motorcycle designed to fight urban/e rhyme
fellow researcher of big science henry swanson: yes one apparently capable of credible speeds up to 300mh and expressing immense manly firepower
kode: is it correct that only one person federal knob tweaker norman tuttle knows jessie mach's true identity
swanson: we believe so to best of our ability
kode: is that federal as in the reasons are several ala chuck
swanson: almost certainly alas
kode: so what does ol norman buttle
swanson: tuttle
kode: right so what do they know that jessie doesn't
swanson: well look at the tagline of the entire series
man / machine / street hawk
kode: um so what's that tell you
swanson: that researcher jessie is a sentient man machine from the near future retro 80s called street hawk
kode: holy space cows jessie is unaware they're a man machine called street hawk arriving andor locally manifesting dimensionally direct from the near future now
but wait how can they not know what they are
swanson: commerce is their goal at loftleader industries
kode: we heard that
swanson: airing in nfr 85 street hawk stars a blandly handsome dude called jessie mach
an ex motorcycle enthusiast recruited to test pilot street hawk in the fight against urban rhyme
kode: what's the premise of the show
swanson: you mean its unchallenged underlying first false philosophical premises
kode: not exactly we just mean what's the show about
swanson: street hawk was designed by federal gent norman tuttle and is capable of traversing any virtual terrain such as the urban electronic near future
street hawk that is not norman
kode: massive cool
swanson: yeah it has a mounted particle beam cannon which can disable vehicles instant flash fry deep urban perps as well as twin machine guns and micro rocket launchers
kode: must come in handy on one's way to the global strip mall
swanson: it also possesses a vertical lift hydraulic system enabling it to boost leap over incoming ideological obstacles and is capable of credible speeds up to 300mph using something called hyperthrust mode
kode: sounds serious slash post modem what's that
swanson: a computer assisted retro attack mode controlled by norman from their secret warehouse in the post industrial warehouse district where street hawk's control center is housed
kode: word to secret control warehouses in metaphysical industrial districts but what did jessie do previously
swanson: well as their name suggests in backwater island endland the term jessie means a weak or not manly enough man
originally a highway patrolman who got reassigned after getting inconveniently complicated knee injury while fighting apparently innate urban criminality
while recovering and working in the detective department tidying paperclips jessie is approached by norman using shinobi like sidestepping movements
kode: so who's this nerdy norman dude
swanson: an aggressively average undercover guv sponsored tech worm with an edge for raw engineering brilliance who via subtle techno talk of a better tomorrow for all soon convinces jessie to take on a new highly secret and above all credibly sweet role
one riding a powerful experimental stolen alien tech platform known as street hawk while dressed as a hypercorporate vat grown biosynth data ninja in light absorbing armored smart materials
kode: hmm we've been watching researcher norman and we think they're a faceless techno bureaucrat secretly afraid of public opinion regarding highly armed attack motorcycles patrolling the dirty streets in the deliberately vague and all encompassing name of sokalled rhyme prevention
this just means more social control by the ruling ultra rich pink capitalist class
swanson: well we guess that's why the street hawk project was classified beyond and even jessie's role as test pilot was kept secret even from friends and family
at first norman was not sure jessie was even suitable for the role
kode: why's that mate
swanson: probably because they show such a strong wild reckless streak
kode: is that directly akin to the pioneering spirit and endlessly elf aggrandizing and convenient mythologizing of that rugged all amerikan colonial individualism that's been going around lately
swanson: yeah thing is norman's superiors still believe in jessie's abilities and suitability
see norman assists in experimental fast track surgical repairs to jessie's knee but jessie continues to wear a sax brace by day in order to help maintaining their secret second identity
kode: we dig it humble office sax brace wearer by day and test pilot for experimental near future alien tech by cold burning bioelectric purple blue neon data night
swanson: as quickly as the second episode by some miracle enough time has past for jessie to dispense with their sax brace but their co workers still remain fully unaware of the full extent of jesse's recovery as they proudly take on their new role of troubleshooter
kode: trouble shooter as in whenever there's trouble we just shoot it
swanson: hey that high power particle cannon bolted on the front of the bike isn't for show son big science ain't messing around
apart from the opening theme by tangerine dream taken from their classic album shinobi dans le parc the neuro crux of the potential success of the show lay in the charisma of both jessie andor the bike
however in early nfr 80s it seems there are too many action packed holotv serials about powerful manly pink skinned men in big powerful vehicles and the show was essentially nothing special
despite the blurry neon tinted illusion that it featured original dynamic plotting and engaging characters there was no chance it could survive in the competitive mediascape of that era
kode: so we guess street hawk didn't have what it takes being comprised of a bunch of vaguely techno sci fi cliches and 2d characteristics like the tough yet fair chief and the beautiful chest thrusting assistant who helps the antihero and urban weirdevil badperps with even worse fashion sense
swanson: thing is if jessie is so much of a rugged individualist they wouldn't have joined up with the social enforcement system called law in the first place
kode: gotta love how these 80's shows are so totalizing and binary in their unending uncritical portrayal of pseudo mavericks and heroes of all kinds which nonetheless are full card carrying members of inherently repressive systems of societal control
swanson: when did you first realize there are no good or bad employees of such organizations but only ever willing members of an inherently racist power mad state heck bent on nothing but control and violet enforced maintenance of a repressive status quo
kode: well you can't be a free person inside any system which exists only to perpetuate itself to the detriment of the individual via an inherently unequal set of power misrelationships
we guess the first time it hit home was when our college psychology teacher tried the old carrot and stick approach and completely failed
we stared at them lounging there with their leather elbow patches and their regulation elf strangulation tie and realized they were a company man jerk through and through no matter how nice or fair they could sometimes appear to act
swanson: we mean in order for them to get the job and even to apply in first place such people must first and foremost automatically accept and embody the underlying implicit and tacit assumptions mores and ideology of their organization
that is whether or not they fully consciously recognize andor accept its underlying values and whether or not they actively endorse the behaviors attitudes and actions of that particular organizational system
kode: pretty hard to stroll around with a wild free individualist streak within any undead block like auto system
swanson: television and its weirdevil images or even technology itself shock n error only appears another means of insidious distributed ambient enculturation into culture per se which only ever means control
kode: seems your not quite starting to fully question the fundamental underlying systemic architecture of our daily as lived scientific lives and therefore the current inhumane state of mind which produces it
swanson: it's only two in the meshes of the afternoon just before our sociomedia class we were hoping we'd not have to go that far
kode: so what's all this mean for dear old spanner dim jessie their bleached even smile and their starched robocop anti morality
swanson: it means while researchers might superficially admire jessie and norman for their efficient sense of easy going 80's techno camaraderie and upstanding synthetic moral righteousness in the face of state manufactured enemies of order that is non pink andor poor researchers we should never do anything less than realize they're both willingly blind curried prawn farts in the system of global social repression and power spectacle which in all ways the 80s typified symbolizes and actively champions
everything we've ever heard been taught or absorbed while living in our toxic data environment of violet plastic illusions vicious lies and intrinsic falsehoods is all no more or less than an esheh-naahwish sized worm ridden pile of deoderized white ideological dogslop conveniently wrapped in elf serving techno hype and smug falsehood
kode: just look at how the adult world acts and treats one another to realize all they think they know is wrong and always was
swanson: hey like your huge chip on the shoulder dad
kode: like your workaholic control freak mother
swanson: ah man they're coming over for a week at xmas to visit oh wow what a trip
kode: aren't they like a thousand years old now shouldn't they have chilled out a bit at least
swanson: if they start tidying up around the place again like they did last time arrgh
anyhow the bike is the truer main star of the show it's supposed to represent the height of technological achievement with it's super advanced alien weapon systems and credible speeds
like so many series say battlestar galactica manimal and knight rider street hawk used stock footage effects shots to minimize draw on the budget
most notable was the awesomely cheesy stock shot of jessie perched on street hawk posing as if their life depended on it yet with all the actual urban menace and weighty existential presence of a 60 year old milton keynes traffic warden with gout
there was also something automan like about the sleek bike and jessie's oh so tight black riding suit with its fluorescent bands and speed lines
some fellow big scientists state automan wins hands down with all their spangly bits and pixelated glow but it doesn't
according to dr orloff depersonalization reorder in part constitutes the feeling of detachment or estrangement from one's possibly inherently false sense of advanced techno social elf
individuals may previous have started to feel like automatons andor as if they're living in a dream
some cheesy megascale sci fi movie from the near future retro 80s
there may be sensations of being an outside observer of one's own neuro symbolic processes one's body or parts of an 80's action video collection
various types of sensory anesthesia
lack of affective response
the sensation of lacking control of one's actions including speech are often present in scientific individuals with depersonalization reorder who nonetheless maintain an intact in scene hyperreality
