## [[Jesus Christ]] as [[Prophet]]: The Greater [[Moses]] and Final Spokesman of [[God]]
One of the three offices of [[Jesus Christ]] is His role as a [[prophet]], alongside His roles as [[priest]] and [[king]]. [[Christ]] as [[prophet]] highlights His role as a [[Spirit-anointed deliverer]], [[covenant mediator]], and, most importantly, the ultimate spokesman for [[God]]. But this role goes beyond just teaching—it involves bringing [[God]]’s people into the fullness of His revelation. Let's dive deeper into how [[Christ]] fulfills this prophetic office and what it means for believers today.
### "A [[Prophet]] Like [[Moses]]"
[Deuteronomy 18:15–22](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy+18.15-22&version=AMP)
In [Deuteronomy 18:15](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy+18.15&version=AMP), [[Moses]] prophesied that the Lord would raise up another [[prophet]] like him for [[Israel]]. This promise was fulfilled in [[Jesus Christ]]. While other prophets came between [[Moses]] and [[Christ]], none had the full scope of [[Moses]]’ role as a deliverer, [[covenant mediator]], and one who directly spoke [[God]]’s words.
> [[Moses]] was the archetypal prophet in [[Israel]]’s history, but [[Jesus Christ]] is the greater [[Moses]]—the one who not only proclaims [[God]]’s word but is the [[Word]] incarnate.
Just as [[Moses]] led [[Israel]] out of physical bondage in [[Egypt]], [[Jesus Christ]], as the new [[Moses]], leads humanity out of spiritual bondage to sin. [[Moses]] mediated the [[Old Covenant]] at [[Mount Sinai]], but [[Christ]] mediates the new and better [[Covenant]] through His own blood ([Hebrews 8–10](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews+8-10&version=AMP)). His prophetic ministry, therefore, is not just about teaching—it is about delivering His people and inaugurating a new [[Covenant]] relationship with [[God]].
#### Application: [[Jesus Christ]], as the new [[Moses]], has delivered you from spiritual bondage. How can you live in the freedom that [[Christ]], the greater deliverer, has won for you? Reflect on how His word shapes your life and guides you in your daily walk with [[God]].
### "The [[Spirit-Anointed Prophet]]"
[Luke 4:18–21](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+4.18-21&version=AMP)
In [Luke 4:18–21](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+4.18-21&version=AMP), [[Jesus]] reads from the prophet [[Isaiah]] and declares that the [[Spirit of the Lord]] is upon Him to preach good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives, and set the oppressed free. This moment is key to understanding [[Jesus Christ]]’s prophetic role. He wasn’t merely a teacher of the [[Law]]—He was sent by [[God]], anointed by the [[Holy Spirit]], to proclaim the arrival of [[God]]’s kingdom and to usher in the fulfillment of [[God]]’s promises.
> As a [[Spirit-anointed prophet]], [[Jesus Christ]] didn’t just speak [[God]]’s words; He embodied them. His life, ministry, and death brought [[God]]’s message to its fullness.
[[Jesus Christ]]’s proclamation of good news, liberty, and freedom reflects the heart of His prophetic ministry. Like the [[Old Testament prophets]], [[Jesus]] called people to repentance, revealed the heart of [[God]], and offered hope for a future of redemption. Yet, unlike the prophets before Him, [[Jesus Christ]] could offer more than a message—He Himself is the fulfillment of the promises.
#### Application: [[Jesus Christ]] proclaimed liberty and healing. Where do you need His healing or freedom today? His prophetic ministry continues to speak to your life—will you listen and respond to His call?
### "The [[Word]] Became Flesh"
[John 1:14](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+1.14&version=AMP), [Hebrews 1:1–2](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews+1.1-2&version=AMP)
While [[Moses]] and the prophets spoke [[God]]’s words, [[Jesus Christ]] *is* the [[Word]]. [John 1:14](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+1.14&version=AMP) declares, *“The [[Word]] became flesh and dwelt among us.”* This means that while the [[Old Testament]] prophets brought messages from [[God]], [[Jesus Christ]] *is* [[God]]’s message in human form. His entire life, death, and resurrection reveal the character, love, and plan of [[God]] in a way that no previous prophet could.
> [[Jesus Christ]] is the final and ultimate revelation of [[God]]. In Him, we don’t just hear [[God]]’s word—we see it, touch it, and experience it.
[Hebrews 1:1–2](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews+1.1-2&version=AMP) says, *“In the past, [[God]] spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son.”* [[Jesus Christ]], as the incarnate [[Word]], is the culmination of all [[God]]’s prior revelations. In Him, [[God]] has spoken fully and finally.
#### Application: How does knowing [[Jesus Christ]] as the [[Word]] made flesh deepen your understanding of [[God]]’s communication with you? Meditate on how [[Jesus]] reveals [[God]]’s character and how you can respond to this revelation in your life.
### "Listen to Him"
[Matthew 17:5](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+17.5&version=AMP)
At the [[Transfiguration]], as recorded in [Matthew 17:5](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew+17.5&version=AMP), [[God the Father]]’s voice from heaven declares, *“This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased. Listen to Him!”* This command to “listen” echoes the words of [Deuteronomy 18:15](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy+18.15&version=AMP), where [[Moses]] foretold the coming of a [[prophet]] like him. [[Jesus Christ]], as that ultimate [[prophet]], brings not only words of wisdom but the very words of eternal life.
> [[God the Father]]’s command to “listen to Him” highlights the authority and centrality of [[Christ]]’s message. To follow [[Jesus]] is to listen attentively to His words, which are the very words of [[God]].
[[Christ]]’s prophetic ministry is not just about hearing His teachings but about following His voice in every aspect of life. His words carry divine authority, and listening to Him means allowing His truth to shape our decisions, behaviors, and beliefs.
#### Application: Are you listening to [[Jesus Christ]] in your daily life? How can you be more attentive to His words and let them guide your actions and decisions?
### "[[Jesus Christ]] as [[Prophet]] Today"
[Ephesians 2:17](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians+2.17&version=AMP), [Revelation 22:17](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Revelation+22.17&version=AMP)
Although [[Jesus Christ]]’s earthly ministry has concluded, His prophetic office continues. [Ephesians 2:17](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians+2.17&version=AMP) states that [[Christ]] continues to proclaim peace to those far and near, while [Revelation 22:17](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Revelation+22.17&version=AMP) portrays the [[Spirit]] and the [[bride]] extending an invitation to come to the Lord. [[Jesus Christ]] is still speaking today, not only through His written word but by His [[Holy Spirit]] in the lives of believers.
> [[Christ]]’s prophetic office did not end with His ascension. Through the [[Spirit]] and the witness of the [[Church]], [[Jesus Christ]] continues to speak His words of life and truth to the world.
This reality reminds us that [[Jesus]] is not a distant historical figure—He is alive and still communicating with His people. As His followers, we are also called to join in His prophetic ministry by proclaiming the [[Gospel]] to the world and speaking [[God]]’s truth in love.
#### Application: [[Jesus Christ]] is still speaking. Are you listening for His voice in your life through [[Scripture]],
