I tried a new clay: Keane's White with Speckles. At first I found it hard to throw, but after more practice I liked how it felt to throw. Somehow it didn't feel 'messy' to throw with, as in my hands didn't seem to be covered in slip after throwing. I also liked how the black speckles show up with some glazes. I imagined a series of bowls where I purposefully add a spiral at the base of the bowl, and use glazes that would highlight both the spiral as well as the speckles.
I made two sizes, a small bowl which fits comfortably in the medium size bowl. These were glazed in Seafoam, Celadon, Buttercup, Wine Red and Purple Haze. I didn't like the look of the Wine Red and Purple Haze as the speckles and the spiral was buried under the glaze.
