KPop Demon Hunters on repeat
## [[The Weeds Grow Anyway]]
My book, [[The Weeds Grow Anyway]], is officially published and out in the world in both print and ebook formats. It was a long process of learning various skills such as [[Formatting A Poetry Book In Word]], [[Turning an inDesign print book file into an ebook]], and I have come from it with many [[Lessons Learned from Self-Publishing]] that I am now working on sharing more widely for poets who want to take an unconventional approach to publishing.
I am trying to figure out where to go from here. I think I need to bind more books.
### This Digital Garden
I dug this up after not using it for quite a while. Originally titled [[the why and how of this digital garden]] back when I made it in 2023, I was inspired by writers, artists, and thinkers committed to creating an authentic and community-oriented online presence, I've decided to finally take the plunge and publish this space and start sharing here in an effort to [[why you should work with the garage door up]].
I don't currently know what the balance will look like of what ends up here vs what ends up on Substack vs what ends up on my website, but I'm trying not to worry too much about it.
### The Artist's Way
I have taken a few half-assed stabs at The Artist's Way in the past, which usually just amounted to me doing the morning pages for a year and not doing any of the exercises or artist's dates. Now, thanks to a weekly group facilitated by the amazing Rev. Mallory Everhart, I am full-assing it and really enjoying the experience.
### [[UCCS Heller Center Arts Exchange]]
I'm working with 4 amazing UCCS students to create an exhibition in the Heller Center gallery, which will open in November. The theme is Spreading the Word(s) -- The Poetry of Activism. We are exploring the relationship of art, poetry, and social change. Ideas are percolating.
Mostly I'm working on works that explore [[the minotaur|the minotaur as a metaphor for long covid]].
## Printmaking
I have been working with Jess, press mechanic extraordinaire, to get my [[Gordon Oldstyle Press]] up and running. I believe the last step is calibrating the platen, but we'll see.
### [[Self-Archival Project]]
This also ties into a [[move toward more secure systems for managing data]]. I'm working on going through a decades worth of photos, screenshots, and other digital material to better understand the narrative of my life and highlight work I've done and lessons learned from that work. I think this will be done in conjunction with my work on this digital garden space.
### Bones I'm Gnawing On
I call these thought skeletons because I'd like to flesh them out later but first I gotta gnaw on these bones. or something. I dunno. The metaphor could use some work.
