***If there's any movie that is "necessary", I would say it's a female directed derivative from a Roman Polanski movie about body autonomy, abortion and abuse***
I either haven't watched - or don't remember **Rosemary's Baby** at all. But I did enjoy this prequel. Julia Garner and Dianne Wiest (and the rest of the cast) do a great job here. And I'm always up for more Julia Garner on my screen.
I'll want to check extras, behind the scenes and stuff if/we get those as bluray extras.
## Comments And Thoughts
Some people are saying this is a *remake* and not a *prequel* and it's astonishing how did they came to that conclusion since it's advertised as prequel AND it's literally a prequel that has the previous tenant mentioned in Rosemary's Baby, and ends where the original starts. *I guess this shows how much I should NOT trust people on the internet*.
*Yes, the stories are very similar, but if that was the case... most slasher series would be remakes as you have the same guy going around killing people, often in a similar fashion and with a similar weapon. In this case here, the movie basically reinforces that this sh!t's going on for a while, and different women have been subjected to that*
It's also kinda maddening how many people say "is this movie necessary" as if that's a discussion we should even have when talking about fiction. Apart from parts of a series (e.g. Lord of The Rings 2 and 3), no movie is ever *necessary*. The questions here are:
- Was it entertaining?
- Did you have fun?
- Did the movie accomplish what it was supposed to do? (e.g. A comedy made you laugh)
At some point I start wondering if I should mute/block people that either completely fail to think before posting, or that resort to clickbait for YT/TikTok views.

> I loved her dancing at the end! She mentioned about why dancing was important to her, and you can see how that also represents control over her own body.

> There is something very poetic about women making a Rosemaryâs Baby prequel and something very telling about men who laugh at that.^[https://letterboxd.com/paulapp/film/apartment-7a/]

> Julia Garner is out here achieving the absolute most.

> The great I'm having the devil's baby craze of 2024 continues! (First Omen, Immaculate)
> I was not a fan of Rosemary's Baby when I saw it for the first time back in April of this year. In my review I called it an overlong, boring, snooze fest. A hot take for sure and if your blood isn't already boiling here's another one.
> I ACTUALLY REALLY ENJOYED THIS PREQUEL/QUASI REMAKE!
> A greatly appreciated half hour shorter than Rosemary's Baby with a protagonist I found far more compelling played by the awesome Julia Garner!
> Dianne Wiest and Kevin McNally were inspired casting.
> Great looking film, fabulous sets and costumes, they really recaptured the look and feel of the original.
> It may lack a bit of suspense since if you've seen Rosemary's Baby you already know the outcome, but I absolutely loved what they did with the ending! A badass middle finger, mic drop from Garner on her way out!
> Wish I could've seen it on the big screen.^[https://letterboxd.com/moroni79/film/apartment-7a/]

> [...] I absolutely love Julia Garner since first seeing her on screen.
> And she's also fantastic in this one (alone the dancing scene in the end đ), coming close to the performance of Mia Farrow in Rosemary's Baby
> Dianne Wiest seems to have the time of her life playing the role of Minnie. Not as scary as the original role, but with a lot more fun.
