# Umlin Darkhide
Location: [[Pradjna]]
Umlin Darkhide, a powerful Illusionist wizard, is the de facto leader of the Pradjnian [[Cult of Dispater]]. He has been anticipating the arrival of the party, and he asks for an alliance . . . of sorts. The cult and the party have a common enemy, it seems.
Umlin shares that the goblin attack on the cult of [[Dispater]] in the [[Westfold]] Wood was clearly orchestrated by [[Duke Roderick Galekin]] as a sign of his loyalty to the arch devil [[Baalezebul]], Lord of Flies. In fact, Umlin believes that all of [[Duke Roderick Galekin|the duke]]'s actions to this point have been in the arch devil's service, and that his affiliation with the Klaveks is simply a means to [[Baalzebul]]'s desired end. [[Dispater]] has long been a notable foe of [[Baalzebul]], and the attack in the [[Westfold]] Wood was little more than a petty squabble between rival cults, but it was effective in demonstrating [[Duke Roderick Galekin|the duke]]'s resourcefulness and resolve. It is very likely that the Lord of Flies would be willing to heap additional powers on [[Duke Roderick Galekin|the duke]] in return for further assistance.
Umlin believes that [[Duke Roderick Galekin|Duke Galekin]] has recently traveled to the Seventh of the Nine Hells, the realm known as [[Maladomini]], to treat with [[Baalzebul]] and to offer his service in an offensive against [[Asmodeus]]. In order to undermine the highly competent and seemingly everlasting Lord of [[Nessus]], such a plan would almost certainly have to leverage [[Asmodeus]]'s adherence to the rule of law. It is well known that devils are unable to default on a contract if the stipulations of that contract have been fully met. Although [[Asmodeus]] has never been known to have found himself on the losing end of a contract, most scholars of the Nine Hells agree that this method would be the only way to overthrow the Supreme Master of the Nine Hells. Someone would have to enter into a contract with [[Asmodeus]] that would force him to voluntarily surrender his power, even if only for a relatively short period of time, if the contracted party were able to fulfill all of its stipulated obligations in return.
In the vacuum left behind once [[Asmodeus]] had been bested, other powerful arch devils, like [[Mephistopheles]] and [[Baalzebul]], would immediately battle for supreme control. The conflict would assuredly make its way into the material plane as cults of these "would-be" masters waged war against one another. [[Dispater]] is not currently in a hierarchical position that would allow himself and his followers to capitalize on the upheaval, and in Umlin's eyes, it must therefore be prevented. Nothing would be more devastating to him and his followers than to see [[Baalzebul]] rise to become Lord of the Nine Hells.
Umlin has offered the assistance of his cultist followers, and of other cults of [[Dispater]] across the continent, in return for meaningful information about the scheme that [[Duke Roderick Galekin|Duke Galekin]] is planning to put in motion. He has also specifically requested information about the disturbance among the [[Ruins of The Old Kingdom]] and what those in league with [[Duke Roderick Galekin|the Duke]] might be seeking there.
