# Purple Worm
Purple Worm:
- Huge creatures (200+ feet long).
- One of the biggest mistakes that adventurers make is they underestimate the movement speed of these deceptively quick creatures.
- They are attracted to loud noises.
- Gnomes use explosions in their mining and it attracts the worms.
- They burrow through solid rock. Very powerful jaws.
- The poison comes from the tail stinger.
- ==The biggest risk is being swallowed hole==.
- Solitary creatures. They do not hunt or live in packs.
- The term “infestation” implies more than one, but we don’t know how many. More than likely 2 or 3.
Purple worms can burrow through solid rock, consuming the material and leave sizable tunnels. They are able to digest and break down earth and rock over time. Because of the limitations of what they eat, there are sometimes precious gems that can’t be digested and are left inside of them.
The quickest way to deter a worm infestion is to make sure there’s nothing valuable for it to eat. It’s been going on for several weeks. The remaining miners have left the area. There might be an indication that this would resolve itself over time. Is it worth the risk vs the reward?
