# Level Scaling in [[Pokemon Scarlet]]
The level scaling is something that's forcing me to rotate party members in and out, which I don't mind too much. It lets me explore my options for Pokemon, which I wouldn't do in other Pokemon games. Consider [[Pokemon Heart Gold]] for example, with the wild Pokemon levels being absolutely god-awful for the entire Johto story, it's nearly impossible to add new party members late in the game because their levels are so low, and by the time you need them to be level 40, for example, it requires constant level-grinding. This isn't as much of a problem in Scarlet and Violet so far (2,1,1), given the amount of Pokemon that are all within proper levels. I suppose this is offset much more because of the Exp Crystals and auto battles, but even then, there's just more options for levelling up, and that means that I can use a LOT of different Pokemon in my playthroughs.
It also obviously helps that I have access to my PC at literally any time.
Compare this to how [[I like Gen 3 Pokemon Games Because I Have to Work For my Party's Success]]. I think that with Scarlet and Violet the idea is that they want you to use as many Pokemon as you see fit, compared to the older games where you were encouraged to develop a team of 6 and no more than 6.
