#index #design # Corporate Memphis also known as "flat art" or "Alegria Style" ![](https://miro.medium.com/max/1400/1*skt6Km9F4Z3Wz05zlPrp0w.jpeg) Coproate Memphis is a visual aesthetic characterized by a flat, geometric art style which is widely associated with Big Tech corporations beginning in the late 2010s. These designs often depite humans in some sort of action, with disproportionate feauters including long and bendy limbs, small torsos, minimal facial features, and bright colors that contrast against each other. The deisgn of these shapes originated from vector graphic programs and a nostalgia for mid-century modern illustration. In my opinion the art style feels very dystopian as every single tech company appears to have adopted this type of design in order to depict its users as happy, active, and content. Meanwhile the companies that use these types of designs are some of the least trustworthy with personal data (Facebook, for example), so it's hard to say. I think I've also just grown weary of every single big-tech company art sprawl on their landing page featuring a faceless person with huge arms and a tiny head (though I also feat what would come next, and if it would be worse, it might just be). Whereas [[Frutiger Aero]] invited skeptical users into the space with humanist design, Corporate Memphis feels like the exact opposite, presenting abstract human shapes of people happy while removing any form of familiarity from the design. ![](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/aesthetics/images/0/0f/Corpart1.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20210220144537) And if you think 2D Corporate Memphis is bad, wait until you see 3D Corporate Memphis (sorry, I'm feeling cynical today). Basically [[Premium Mediocrity]] in an artstyle.
