The only thing missing from the single player experience is a VS. Mode, and the game is sorely lacking as a result. However, I still found myself playing the game a ton since the game is really easy to pick up and play in very short bursts. The Retro track selection is GOATed, but the early new stages are a little lackluster / don't take many risks. # Playthrough Notes I remember getting this game when it came out back when I was in 8th grade or so. the game was played obsessively, and I eventualy 3-Starred every track and played a lot of online races. # My Thoughts - [[Mario Kart 7 is limited by its lack of Single Player Content, which is a real shame since all of its courses are excellent]]. The game is a great addition to the franchise, with excellent new and retro tracks that make for another quality Mario Kart outing. It's easy to play multiplayer and makes for a great game to play with friends who are also into racing games. However, it needs a VS. mode in single player. I'm gonna be honest, that would've had me playing more and more. As a result I ended up playing a lot of Time Trials which got me pretty good at the game overall. I think Special Cup in this game is one of the best sets of four tracks in Mario Kart up to this point. DK Jungle, Rosalina's Ice World, Bowser's Castle and Rainbow Road are all excellent tracks and they make for exciting races. The other tracks are pretty solid too, Star Cup has a lot of solid racing capabilities as well, Piranha Plant Slide, Wario Shipyard and Neo Bowser City are also great, though I'm not as big on Maka Wuhu. The first two new cups, Flower Cup and Mushroom Cup are pretty average, with Music Park and Shy Guy Bazaar being the only two standout tracks. In contrast, the Retro Courses the game brings to the table are excellent choices. Shell Cup is great for short and simple tracks, Banana Cup has four great reboots of really solid old tracks like N64 Koopa Troopa Beach, SNES Mario Circuit 2, Wii Coconut Mall, and DS Waluigi Pinball. Leaf Cup continues the quality, with N64 Kalimari Desert, DS DK Pass (which I'm partial to), GCN Daisy Cruiser, and Wii Maple Treeway. And then Lightning Cup brings tracks that are challenging, but I relaly love the choices in Wii Koopa Cape, GCN Dino Dino Jungle, DS Airship Fortress, and SNES Rainbow Road. All of the Retro Tracks are excellent choices. I guarantee I wouldn't have played this gam eas much had the Retro tracks been not as good as they are. # Favorite Moments / Memories - This game's Rainbow Road is genuinely one of the best tracks in the franchise, if not the best. I'm looking forward to [[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]'s DLC version of it. - The Rosalina's Ice World jump at the start of the track is really fun ,and I like the [[Super Mario Galaxy]] aesthetics from it. - Dino Dino Jungle glider over the rail in Time Trials # What were you doing when not playing this? - EARLY HIGH SCHOOL! - I remember being in TechEd Class looking at the leaked / rumored / revealed retro tracks in the game on Mario Wiki # Relevant Links
