Honestly just a general solid rom hack that improves the game. - [[The Future is Colorful - A Discussion of Kirby's Dreamland 2 DX]] # Playthrough Notes - This is a romhack of [[Kirby's Dream Land 2]] - Clear time is based on the time it took to beat DeDeDe and get the bad(?) enging ## Rom Hack features: - Full Colorization - All backgrounds, tilesets, and sprites have been fully colorized, taking full advantage of the GBC’s graphics capabilities. - Extra Visual Snazz - Smoother fade effects, some color animation, and other little details to push the hardware just a bit more. - Slowdown Eliminated - The GBC’s double speed mode is enabled to diminish virtually any lag present in the original game. - All-new Settings Menu - Change the Status Bar Color, toggle color animation in the Status Bar, or toggle the Animal Friends’ BGMs interrupting the level music. - SGB Support Intact - Play with the SGB border enabled in emulators that support the unofficial “SGB+GBC” mode. # My Thoughts ## Wow, the Colors Add A LOT to this game Wow they weren't kidding that the colors REALLY add to this game. When I played the original on a monochrome color scheme on the gameboy advance, some of the stages appeared kind of lifeless. An added set of colors REALLY go a long ways in making the game feel more memorable and charming. - I suppose that could also be said about visually stylized games like [[Kirby's Dream Land 3]], but with 2 DX it's notable BECAUSE there's a change. Reviews also really like the colors: > Bringing color to this beloved Gameboy game is like bringing the feeling of magic back to Christmas as an adult. > - Mylocke # Favorite Moments / Memories - Red Canyon and ESPECIALLY cloudy park are way more fun and interesting to look at and playthrough compared to the opriginal. # What were you doing when not playing this? - Just hanging out in may, handling the tail end of a migraine. # Relevant Links
