# Playthrough Notes
So a while back, I promised an acquaintance that I would eventually play Kingdom Hearts. They made me promise that I would let myself experience it for what it was, not be especially cynical, not force it, but to let the game impact me if it happened to do so. This meant, of course, playing it on stream with all of my friends who already knew everything about the game and could riff on it and share their opinions. I had to eventually ask them to stop poisoning the waterhole so that I could form my own opinion of everything I was playing and watching. I do think that a lot of their complaints are valid, but I wanted to come to my own conclusions, and I'm glad that everyone in these calls has respected that so far. Eventually I just decided I'd be better off doing it solo.
I ultimately decided to drop this game on [[2022-09-05]] because I wasn't having fun with it at all, when playing. I didn't grow up with it and didn't find the gameplay that much more fun after getting past Agrabah.
# My Thoughts
Cave of Wonders is genuinely a really fun level and one of my favorite parts of the game, even if the boss fight is a little underwhelming in how easy it is. It still is really cool to have a boss fight that requires you to chase the hitpoint which isn't a threat, while the true threat tries to attack you. I really enjoyed that part of the game, if that's even possible.
Deep Jungle isn't so bad as long as you can have a general idea of where to go. Atlantica, on the other hand... I hate Atlantica. I hate the swimming. I hate the lack of workable lock-on. I hate the Ursula fights. I don't like this world. Why did I play it, if it's optional? It genuinely made me want to quit playing the game, to drop it. I'm seriously considering doing so.
Some of the gameplay choices that were made when developing this game are so confusing. When do you lock Invincibility frames when healing behind a skill / equipment? It makes so little sense to have mechanics that are, otherwise a common courtesy and have been even before this game, locked behind arbitrary barriers. It would be like if in [[Chrono Trigger]], you could still be attacked during the healing animation. It makes literally no sense to me.
