# Thin-Film Transistor (TFT) Arrays
Motivation: Considering Comments from [[2023 Student Conference Presentation Update Considerations]]

The TFT is a photosensitive array made up of small (about 100 to 200 micron) pixels, also called a detector element (del). Each pixel contains a photodiode that absorbs the electrons and generates electric charges. This technology that is used in a subset of radiation detectors that uses direct conversion, wherein the x-rays are absorbed by the coating material and is immediately converted to electric signal.
