# Mutwil Lab
**Predictive, mechanistic, and evolution-aware plant gene function.**
We use AI, knowledge graphs and comparative omics to figure out **what plant genes actually do** — and then test those predictions in stress biology and across the plant kingdom. The lab is based at the **Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences (PLEN), University of Copenhagen** since 2024, with a sister group at the **School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore**.

## We are hiring
Across two new grants — **Novo Nordisk Foundation ASCENDING Investigator** (DKK 12.5 M / 5 years) and **Horizon Europe MSCA Doctoral Network "Stripes&Stars"** — we are recruiting **5 PhD students and 1 postdoc** at the intersection of plant biology, machine learning and stress physiology. See [[Openings]] for the breakdown and how to apply, or write directly to Marek.
