Thanks to two new grants — the **Novo Nordisk Foundation ASCENDING Investigator** grant *'Accelerating crop resilience with AI-enabled gene function prediction and stress regulatory networks'*, and the **Horizon Europe MSCA Doctoral Network 'Stripes&Stars'** — the lab is recruiting **5 PhD students and 1 postdoc** at PLEN, University of Copenhagen. **Gene function prediction (4 positions: 1 postdoc + 3 PhDs)** Four team members will work on different facets of predicting plant gene function and stress regulatory networks, combining knowledge graphs built from the plant science literature, large language models, graph neural networks, and cross-species co-expression networks, with experimental validation in rapeseed under heat and drought. **Single-cell transcriptomics of stress (1 PhD or postdoc)** One PhD student/postdoc will focus on dissecting **single-cell transcriptomic responses to stress** — identifying cell-type-specific regulatory programs that underpin resilience. An additional MSCA PhD position within the **Stripes&Stars** Doctoral Network (colour and pattern formation in plants, in partnership with Tomas Laursen) will be advertised through the network's central call — get in touch if you are interested. Please also take a look at the [[Stress resilience]], [[Gene function prediction]] and [[Evolution of regulatory circuits]] projects. If you find something that interests you — or if you would like to apply together for an externally-funded position (Marie Curie postdoc, DARA PhD, EMBO, Carlsberg, etc.) — please contact Marek. %%Currently, I am mainly recruiting computational biologists, so proficiency in Python/R or a burning desire to learn this is a must. **Application** An employment application must contain the following documents: - A complete resumé, including date of the thesis defence, title of the thesis, previous academic positions, academic title, current position, academic distinctions, and committee work - A complete list of publications - A summary of current work (no more than one page) %% Please send your CV and the contact details of two referees to Marek Mutwil ([[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])). ![[science.svg|100]]
