It is often helpful to publicize your work on social media. It can pay off to do this well. Below are some tips designed specifically for Twitter (and I guess Mastodon too) threads.
### Tips
1. Create a thread that describes the main results
- A good approach is to try and rewrite your abstract but for social media.
- If there is relevant work that sets the stage "cite" it in your thread by tagging those folks Twitter account with a link to the paper. This can help inform the academic "network" and increase exposure to your paper. People will often appreciate being tagged as it will increase their own exposure.
1. Be excited about your results!
- You should remain stoic in your actual publication but on social media you should try (within reason) to get viewers excited about your work.
2. Include pictures
- Always include screenshots of the figures in your paper and including the captions
3. Use [`chirr`](https://getchirrapp.com/) for drafting
- An annoying part of drafting is not knowing if your tweet is too long. This free app shows you immediately. You can pay for extra features but doesn't seem necessary...
