- What skills are required to be a case manager in psychiatry/mental health?
- A case manager requires both sides of the brain; the analytical and the intuitive. They think analytically to understand problems, and to investigate causes of issues, while the intuitive side thinks broadly to "connect the dots". They should be able to formulate causes and see how issues are connected systemically.
- They should be able to tolerate ambiguity, uncertainty and complexity.
- Good people skills, being empathathic.
- Good listening and communication skills; they will need to be able to speak the clients' language to help them understand.
