A well-known noble family, House Godwynn, sent a group of spies to investigate the rumors of cultists nearby. These cultists are charged with the practice of Black Magic and corroborating with dark forces. Many spies were killed, but a few returned with unsettling news. The cult was growing rapidly. Lord Samael Godwynn, as the eldest son, and the commander of the kingdom’s armies sent word out that all knights of the sacred orders were called to his castle for an urgent meeting. Bannerman and paladins across the lands came to meet at this summit. This would be known as The Summit of Shields. After hours of deliberation, it was decided that a new order of knights would be founded. This new sect would be known as the Order of the Seal and their prime directive was the organization of pious knights in an attempt to stop the rise of the growing demonic cults. The Temple was funded by the nearby Kingdom of Trayas and the knights were put to work eliminating demonic threats. They would go on to slay many creatures and ultimately achieve their goal in the final hour. ### **Lore Excerpts** _**History and Heraldry of the Undaunted**_ A former living document of all the houses that served the Order of the Seal. Last entry was by the late Arch-Priest Matthew Vigilius. _**Chronicles of Sir Harris**_ Written by Brother William 5 years after the events of the biography take place. Brother William transcribes the words of a Sir Morris Yvraine, squire to Sir Harris at the time of his death. The Chronicles are a re-telling of how Sir Harris arrived from the West flying a banner of an unfamiliar house. He came from harsh sandy climates and wielded an odd curved blade and a shield of highly reflective material. With the help of Yvraine, they were able to clear an entire cavern infested with Hags and their monstrous pets. Some bits seem to be hyperbolic, but the climax features Sir Harris sacrificing himself in order to interrupt a dark ritual that would see ruin to a nearby village. Yvraine was able to finish the fight and escape with the body of his lord in-tow. _**Battle at Black Gate**_ Sir Albright survives the Battle at Black Gate and recalls how the battle was both a success and a loss. Sir Albright writes the plan, attack, tactical retreat, and second attack at the Black Gate. With his last dying breath, Godwynn charged Albright with the honor of bringing his remains to the White Temple South of the Tanglewood which is located in the now named Red Fields of Trayas. _**Undaunted Prayers: A Collection**_ A collection of prayers that are dedicated to the gods that the Order of the Seal fight for.
