## Introduction
[Metricsrouter](https://www.metricsrouter.com/) is an initiative aimed at creating an open-core metrics exchange to foster a more decentralised economy. Established in October 2023 following dbt Labs' introduction of the Semantic Layer, MetricsRouter seeks to facilitate trustworthy metric-sharing among various stakeholders, including academia, suppliers, customers, investors, and regulatory bodies.

## Features
The platform enables companies to share specific metrics with designated consumers through metric exchange contracts, detailing the metrics, timeframes, and access durations. MetricsRouter's development roadmap includes:
- **MR1**: Manual metric sharing via standardized spreadsheets.
- **MR2**: API-based connections allowing consumers to sync directly with suppliers.
- **MR3**: Centralized API access through MetricsRouter for validated metric requests.
- **MR4**: Direct connections between metric suppliers and consumers, akin to the Domain Name System.
## Applications
- **Financial Metrics Exchange**: Enables the sharing of financial performance indicators with investors, banks, and financial analysts.
- **Environmental Reporting**: Facilitates the dissemination of metrics related to pollution, waste generation, and chemical concentrations to environmental agencies and regulatory bodies.
- **Supply Chain Transparency**: Allows companies to share relevant performance metrics with suppliers and customers, promoting transparency and collaboration.
- **Public Health Data Sharing**: Supports the exchange of health-related metrics with public health officials and insurance companies for better health outcomes.
## Best Practices
- **Define Clear Data Governance Policies**: Establish guidelines on which metrics can be shared, with whom, and under what conditions to maintain data integrity and confidentiality.
- **Ensure Data Quality**: Implement rigorous data validation and cleaning processes to maintain the accuracy and reliability of shared metrics.
- **Monitor Data Sharing Activities**: Regularly review and audit data exchanges to ensure compliance with established policies and to detect any unauthorized access.
- **Engage Stakeholders**: Collaborate with all relevant parties to understand their data needs and to build trust in the data sharing process.
## Pricing
Metricsrouter finances its operations through a subscription-based model:
1. **Free**
- **Cost**: No fees. Indefinitely.
- **Eligibility**: Companies that exchange metrics trough either MR1 or MR2.
2. **Standard Subscription**:
- **Cost**: €50 per month
- **Eligibility**: Companies that either provide or consume metric records on the MR3 level.
3. **Patron Contribution**:
- **Cost**: €100 per month
4. **Ambassador Contribution**:
- **Cost**: €500 per month
The company plans to reduce these contributions once long-term profitability goals are achieved, financial buffers are full, and the development backlog is adequately funded. The reduction will start with the Ambassador tier, followed by the Patron and Standard subscriptions.
## Usage
The Mertricsrouter standards MR1 and MR2 are used by multiple of our clients to share their performance data with their shareholders and stakeholders.
