*Parallel Lines* is a novel by Mark McElroy: an experiment in "writing out loud," in public, using a powerful thought processor called [Obsidian](http://obsidian.md). In addition to posting a new chapters, I'm sharing everything I learn about the writing process, about the tools I use, and about myself ... all in real time. While you can navigate using the collapsible menus on the left, the links below are the easiest way to access the bits you want to read. --- ## Introduction: What is this? [[I'm Writing a Novel. In Public. Using Obsidian.]] At least three new chapters will appear each week, published on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. And, yes, if you've been following along, that's a different publishing schedule than the "chapter a day" stunt I started with. After pausing publication for a two-week vacation (see [[Parallel Lines - Impact of Upcoming Travel on This Experiment]]), I learned an humbling lesson or two about sustainability, and changed my approach accordingly. --- ## Parallel Lines - The Novel [[Chapter 01]] - Thomas and Carter attend an anniversary party, and it's clear their relationship is trouble.
