# I3 [[Window Manager]] I have been using the i3 window manager for over 20 years now I think, and it still is my benchmark in terms of how snappy and robust a windowing environment should feel. For a time, [[SizeUp]] on [[MacOS]] was a decent replacement, but as monitors went to 4k and I could fit 3 windows side by side, sizeup started showing its limits. I worked with [[yabai]] on mac and the jankiness caused me to really want to move back to [[Linux]] for my daily driver, despite the numerous foreseeable battery issues. A small amount of stuff has happened since I last looked into i3, but not really much. The addition of things like [[polybar]] helped me tune the whole thing to be a bit prettier, and [[rofi]] as a launcher is something I need to explore more (for example, how to link it up to the [[GO GO GOLEMS]] tools, especially the gpt things.)
